Fundraiser Sarah

Sarah’s Charity Challenges

Goal: $5,000 | Raised So Far: $1,191

Sarah has laced up her walking shoes to take part in numerous events across New Zealand to highlight the incredible work of Land Search and Rescue volunteers. Inspired to support rescue charities due to a time when her father needed urgent help, Sarah is determined to give back by helping others.

“If I’m not working or walking, then I’m fundraising. My fundraising goes wherever I go. For me, the most rewarding part of supporting Land Search and Rescue is the feeling that you are helping support a vital lifesaving rescue charity in New Zealand. Knowing that every donation big or small is helping to keep that charity going to save lives.”

Damiana’s Journey on the Te Araroa trail

Goal: $5,000 | Raised So Far: $150.00

In a remarkable display of resilience and determination, Damiana is set to embark on a monumental journey, walking the length of New Zealand – twice. Starting at Cape Reinga on 1st September 2024, and following the route of the poplar Te Araroa Trail, Damiana aims to reach Bluff by March 2026.

Upon completion of the trail, she will then turn around and walk back from Bluff to Cape Reinga via a different route, with the goal of completing this second leg by September 2026. The total distance of over 6,500 kilometres will be traversed entirely on foot.

This incredible feat is driven by Damiana’s personal story of overcoming significant physical challenges. Living with conditions such as autism, dyspraxia, dyslexia and cerebral palsy, Damiana was recently further diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND).

These conditions, along with the experience of having to teach herself to walk again in January 2024 after losing the ability and requiring the aid of a wheelchair since 2019, have fuelled her desire to prove what is possible with determination and perseverance.

Follow her incredible journey on Instagram, Facebook or at damianata.wordpress.com.
