Thanks for scanning Seek’s QR code or visiting us online. You’ve just joined Searchlight 2025 — a nationwide campaign shining a light on the incredible work of Land Search and Rescue volunteers across Aotearoa New Zealand.
By becoming a Searchlight Supporter, you’re standing with over 3,000 trained volunteers who are ready to respond — anywhere, anytime. In 2023/24, our 70 teams contributed over 150,000 hours, responded to 495 callouts, and helped bring 600 people home. That’s 600 families who didn’t have to face the dark alone.
And while 41 lives were saved, we also remember the 41 people who could not be brought home — a reminder of why our work, and your support, matters.
Land Search and Rescue is Everywhere for Everyone — from mountain tops to urban streets, with over 25% of our operations happening in city areas to help everyday Kiwis.

Who is Seek?
Meet Seek – the adventurous and ever-curious Land Search and Rescue mascot! Seek pops up in all sorts of places, reminding us that staying safe in the outdoors is serious business (but can still be fun). Keep your eyes peeled and see if you can spot him hiding on a page on our website – he’s a master of hide and seek!
