and
Clue Processing

This course is designed to analyse and process clues obtained from clue rich areas during a wilderness search operation. eg. field camps, water points, rubbish and toilet sites. In depth clue processing and the rationale and concepts supporting it forms the basis for the learning to follow. The course is field based with both theory and practical components and normally includes an overnight camp.

The core course material is normally delivered over two days and two nights. There is Introductory course work that forms part of the assessment. For some participants assessment will occur immediately after the training is completed, although most will require the completion of a reflective practice component and on-going practice is expected.

Search Methods

This course is designed to explore the factors involved in successful searching and introduces the concept of Lost Person Behaviour (LPB) and profiling and the impact that these have on searches. A variety of search methods for both day and night, responsive and unresponsive subjects are explained and practiced in different situations. The Search Methods course analyses and applies knowledge and techniques to search practice and decision making for use in the field in varied environments.

The core course material is normally delivered over two days and one night with some Introductory Course work. For most participants assessment will occur immediately after the training is completed, although on-going practice is expected.

Suburban Search

This course deals with search practice in a variety of suburban contexts. It analyses factors impacting on suburban search success and the usefulness of particular search methods in differing suburban situations. It deals with the behaviour patterns of common suburban search subject types, extends the understanding of the missing person matrix and teaches how to maximise the probability of detection by applying tracking skills in suburban settings. Unique aspects of suburban searches, such as legal constraints, private and commercial property considerations and dealing with non-searchers are also discussed. The course has a night search component and a follow on reflective practice element.

The core course material is normally delivered over two days and one night. Introductory course work is also required. Assessment occurs immediately after the training and through the reflective practice component.

Tracking

This course is designed to focus on locating or ‘cutting’ sign. Participants apply the concepts taught in specific environments such as car parks and wilderness sites learning how to identify the number of people, their direction of travel, age of the sign, explore the concept of decision pointing from a tracking perspective and differentiste human toilet matter.  Real life scenarios and a number of case studies are included.

The core course material is normally delivered over two days and one night. There is also introductory course work and assessment occurs alongside the training.

Track and Clue Awareness

This course is designed to introduce participants to clue awareness, heightened observation and man tracking skills. Participants learn to distinguish between the characteristics of an undisturbed environment and the characteristics caused by human passage through the environment. Practical exercises are undertaken to learn how to calibrate and use a tracking stick, to track human sign and to process clues and clue sites.

The course material is normally delivered over two days and one night.
